Sr. Cybercrime Research Analyst

Summary:
Under supervision, will develop advisory reports and conduct liaison activities with senior-level and operational members throughout corporate, military intelligence and law enforcement communities. Provide visual data representation as well as produce articles, blogs, video and other media for threat trend analysis and threat landscape briefings. Create and maintain cybercrime and threat landscape briefings for internal sales and marketing teams (communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience).

Responsibilities:

  • Create concise visual representation of large data sets and isolate data slices of interest
  • Develop high-quality briefing materials with Word, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint
  • Research, document and present topics such as copyright crime, internal and external data breach, money laundering, physical security and malware
  • Research current industry trends in malware and anti-malware technology
  • Leverage knowledge of white collar crime, fraud investigation, and California computer crime code
  • Communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Provide a presence in social networking / Web 2.0 environments (blogs/vblogs/forums, etc)
  • Collaborate with other researchers, scientists, engineers, law enforcement, etc. and work effectively in a team environment
  • Align research work with business strategy and translate research results into practical applications and best practices
  • Prepare and deliver operational briefings to the senior management team

Experience:

Five years hands-on experience in Cybersecurity and/or Cybercrime research

Qualifications/Education:

Masters Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics preferred.
  • Strategic knowledge of the organizations and functions of Federal Government departments with overlapping responsibilities including, but not limited to, DoD, DIA, CIA, NSA, Secret Service / Treasury, FBI, and Homeland Security
  • Existing relations with one (or more) of the following: military, CxO level corporate leaders, media and research members, and law enforcement
  • The optimal candidate will have 10+ years of operational interaction with law enforcement and military intelligence
  • The candidate must be familiar with research and intelligence gathering principles
  • Excellent presenter - with appropriate oral and written communication skills

Desired, but not required qualifications:

  • A multi-discipline intelligence background is preferred, participating in collection, analysis, and dissemination of information
  • Familiarity with military or law-enforcement intelligence tactics, philosophy and doctrine
  • Two years field experience in Crime Scene Investigation, particularly white collar crime and fraud investigation
  • Four years in an operational military intelligence capacity consisting of one or more of the following: surveillance, analysis, collection, and presentation/briefing
