Marketing Copywriter
Location: San Diego, CA
Relevant Work Experience: minimum 8-13 years experience, preferably in a technical industry
Education Level: Four-year degree (BS/BA)
Summary:
Copywriter for marketing and sales support will work with various functional areas to develop content for web, marketing collateral, advertising, events and brand support. Collaborate with internal/external graphic artists on creative projects, ensure effective process and workflow, including project management and scheduling. This is an ideal position for a versatile, creative and resourceful writer with a germane technical background (computer software), who also capable of maintaining and updating content for existing core assets with strong multi-tasking and project management skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic, targeted, and engaging content for a variety of marketing campaigns that shows a clear understanding of the target audience and industry – web site, interactive, collateral, brochures, advertising and events
- Actively participate in the planning and developing of marketing campaigns
- Manage projects from concept to completion including development of scope of work/creative briefs, scheduling, prioritization, work flow, sign-off and production
- Collaborate with marketing, vertical marketing, sales, and other teams to understand and discuss objectives, product and audience background, and messaging goals
- Manage asset collection and content library. Ensure all is continually updated with the most current information and data
- Proofread and edit all external-facing communications to ensure consistent brand voice and corporate/product messaging, including overseeing and facilitating work with external proofreading agency
- Coordinate translation process with external vendors and internal review teams from initiation and organization of projects to final proofreading
- Ensure proper follow-up, sign-offs and processes are followed for all projects. Participate as necessary in facilitating projects and developing creative briefs
- Perform administrative functions as necessary including but not limited to: working within the team and cross-functionally to devise and implement processes for content creation and review, templates for collateral, managing workflows and follow ups with stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and effectively assimilate critical information into salient, audience-appropriate copy–from mainstream consumers to highly technical experts
- Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects from concept to completion, assimilate shifting priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficient in execution of both long and short (headline) copy
- Experience with SEO strategies and incorporation into web content
- Process-oriented, capable of developing, implementing and maintaining effective creative production best practices
- Excellent creative project management. Ability to manage shifting priorities, yet maintain schedules and meet multiple, concurrent deadlines
- Excellent proofreader, familiar working with style/brand guides
- Experience: 8 years working in collaborative creative development, producing marketing material in a technical industry
- Experience with content management systems a plus
- Experience writing for a diverse international audience and proficiency in written French a plus
- Four-year degree (BS/BA) – journalism, creative writing
