Continues Proven Track Record as Winning Antivirus Solution with Superior Proactive Detection Capabilities
SAN DIEGO – June 7, 2007 – ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, today announced that its NOD32 Antivirus software was the only antivirus solution awarded the Advanced+ Certification in the May 2007 Anti-Virus Comparative No. 14 test, conducted by testing organization AV-Comparatives. The Advanced+ Certification is granted to antivirus products that demonstrate leading proactive detection capabilities while delivering minimal false positives.
ESET’s NOD32 Antivirus achieved this distinguished certification for the second year in a row, due to its market-leading proactive detection. In a field of 15 competing products, NOD32 Antivirus was able to identify a very large percentage of new threats, while producing a limited number of false positives, all at a high level of speed performance– the winning ratio for all antivirus products. Of the three leaders in the “Proactive detection of new backdoors, Trojans and other malware” category, NOD32 had by far the fewest false positives, and took third place to products with high false positives.

To effectively evaluate security software, one needs to look at software track records,” said Randy Abrams, director of technical education, at ESET LLC. “For the second year in a row, the AV-Comparatives test demonstrates that NOD32 Antivirus is the only product that has been able to consistently achieve both high proactive detection scores while maintaining low false positive rates.”

The AV-Comparatives is an independent testing organization based in Austria.
