ESET is donating up to 20,000 licenses of its NOD32 anti-threat software and providing technical support to local San Diego government agencies and educational institutions (K-12 and Higher Ed) affected by Win32/Zotob worm.
With more than 12,000 desktops affected and thousands of
employees currently working without computers, the company is
responding to a serious, local need. This outbreak marked the third
time in recent weeks that significant computer problems have affected
San Diego County government agencies.
“The importance
of real-time malware protection is clear,” said Rick Moy, VP Sales
& Marketing at ESET. “As demonstrated in our own community,
near-zero day attacks are on the rise and operating system patches
simply cannot offer immediate protection. We are extending this offer
to important institutions in our community which are often the most
resource-challenged. This is where we live and work, and we’d like to
do what we can to help.”
