Trident was the first European group engaged in creating viruses. It originated in Holland in the years 1991-92. Members of the group were persons with nicknames Bit Addict, Crum-Croach, Dark Helmet, Dark Ray, Masud Khafir and John Tardy. This group is considered to create more than 100 various viruses, among them also the first virus for Microsoft Windows 3.x - Winvir. Masud Khafir wrote one of the first polymorphic libraries TridenT Polymorphic Engine (TPE). After several years the group cut out its activities.
