Wyx

Wyx is a boot virus with length of 2 sectors, i.e. 1024 bytes. Its body is encrypted by a simple loop. It attacks the hard disk’s MBR and diskettes boot sectors.
After booting from an infected diskette the virus attacks the hard disk’s MBR while decreasing the amount of accessible memory by o 2 Kb. The original MBR and the second sector of the virus are stored at the end of the first side of the hard disk. After that the virus attacks boot sectors. Upon attacking diskettes the virus stores its second sector and the original boot sector to the end of the area reserved for the root directory.
The virus is able to turn off the BIOS protection against boot viruses. In the second sector of the virus the following text can be seen:

01/09/97 WYX

Apart from replication this virus has no other presentations.
